As many of you will know NTS is run largely by incredible donations given from friends, family and wonderful people who are touched by our story here in the UK.
For many years both Durga (my clinic partner) and I have known that with the number of children we care for growing so rapidly as the good news of our clinic spreads the day would come when the funds we raise in the UK would not be enough.
Over the past 8 years Durga and I have spent endless hours, days, weeks, months trying to secure more sustainable help both from the Nepali Government and from the Thalsasaemia International Federation (TIF). It is our goal that one day every child diagnosed with thalassaemia in Nepal will have access to free regular blood transfusions; medicine required and related support care without the help of outside donations.
This year our dream came true and we were able to secure a delegation visit to Nepal lobby the Nepali Government by TIF, The UK Thalassaemia Society (UKTS) and Apo Pharma (U.S).
The team consisted of eight incredibly knowledgeable and driven people. The results were astonishing and beyond our wildest dreams.
